About The Coalition

The Shallow Water Energy Coalition comprises a group of companies—primarily operators and contractors— that explore, develop and drill for oil, liquids and natural gas in the shallow waters of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The coalition was established to enhance the understanding of shallow water operations as policymakers develop legislative and regulatory policies regarding offshore energy.

The Shallow Water Energy Security Coalition works on behalf of the 40,000 workers employed throughout our industry’s companies, as well as the 180,000 people directly employed in oil and gas exploration along the Gulf Coast. The floating factories of the shallow water drilling industry support the jobs of countless welders, fabricators, equipment manufacturers, longshoremen, helicopter pilots, truckers, restaurant owners and supply boat captains all across the nation.
